Spagnuolo: Jackson ready, but Rams will be smart

Some very good news out of St. Louis for Rams fans on Tuesday, as coach Steve Spagnuolo told reporters that RB Steven Jackson will be ready when training camp opens later this week.

Jackson, you’ll remember, had offseason surgery in April to repair a herniated disc and found some immediate relief.

“We want the doctors to look at him one more time,” Spagnuolo told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “But he feels great. We want to get him ready. And we’ll have him ready for the opening game. We’ll be smart about it.”

Spagnuolo also said Roger Allen, O.J. Atogwe, Daniel Fells, Bradley Fletcher, Jason Smith, Jacob Bell and Chris Massey are expected to be ready. Good news all around for a team that was beset by injuries last season.
