The number is in the neighborhood of $3.25 million, or roughly half of what Owens collected during his only season in Buffalo ($6.5 million). I’m guessing it’s not an accident that Owens threw out that particular number, but the figure has been met with some skepticism around the halls of NFL Network.
TMZ caught up with Owens on Monday in Los Angeles.
“I already told [teams], everything is negotiable,” Owens said. “I just want a fair deal, a fair shot. I know what I made last year. So maybe cut that in half and see what we can work with. I’m flexible.”
It wasn’t long before Chad Ochocinco responded on Twitter, suggesting he’ll open up his infamous fine pool for T.O. (surely the Bengals love to hear that).
“Dear twitter do you all understand the impact that @terrellowens would have on our team as a presence let alone a great player? Seriously?” Ochocinco wrote. “Our big 3 would be better than the Heat and Celtics, me you and Antonio Bryant. I will pay your fines this year also, i will take a pay cut! Wait, nevermind that last comment, im just excited, lets go!”
For now, the momentum in this story is with the Bengals, as the only team we know of with an offer on the table.
