Even Drew Rosenhaus says it isn’t true, but Chad Ochocinco is grabbing the T.O.-to-Cincinnati rumor and running with it.
As chatter again connecting Terrell Owens to the Bengals flooded the Internet, Ochocinco took to his favorite form of communication — Twitter — and let the world know what he thinks.
“Coming soon to a city near you if your playing the Bengals, Batman = T.O. Robin = Esteban,” Ochocinco tweeted Saturday, not long after he wrote: “Be blessed today folks, i am so excited for training camp, especially since Batman is coming to join me.”
Ochocinco also had a message for T.O., his fellow wide receiver and VH1 reality-show impresario: “boss man, two words, Batman and Robin, stay prayed up with me on this one.”
Some might say T.O. doesn’t have a prayer of joining the Bengals, especially after they passed on him in March and coach Marvin Lewis said earlier this week that the team wasn’t interested. And Rosenhaus, who represents T.O., texted NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora this week “not true” after being asked about a report that the receiver was Cincinnati-bound.
For his part, T.O. won’t reveal his suitors, although he said Friday at a celebrity golf tournament that some teams are interested.
“It has to be the right situation for me,” he told NFL Network’s Stacey Dales. “I’m going in on my 15th season, so I want to go to a team that’s on the cusp of making it to the playoffs and really having a team really want me and feel that I can come in and be an asset to their ballclub. Other than that, I’m still working out and keeping myself in shape, and I’ll be ready.”
It’s widely believed that an NFL team won’t be ready for T.O. until a training-camp injury creates a need for a receiver. And with training camp already upon on us, that time might be soon.
