Though Camp T.O. has displayed recent optimism that five teams are interested in the veteran wide receiver, and that a deal will happen sooner rather than later, teams continue to take themselves out of the mix.
The latest is the Vikings, which isn’t much of a surprise.
Joe Schmit of KSTP in Minneapolis tweeted that Vikings GM Rick Spielman said the team has “no interest” in Owens.
Though it’s unlikely any team actually interested in Owens would come out and say so, looking over the list of teams reportedly not interested at various points this offseason now reads like this: Bears, Bengals, Chargers, Dolphins, Jaguars, Ravens, Raiders, Redskins and Seahawks.
It also wouldn’t seem like a reach to presume Owens’ former teams (49ers, Bills, Cowboys and Eagles) hold no interest.
There’s a lot of guesswork involved here, and we’re not sure everything should be believed. But don’t forget that last year’s suitor for Owens — the Bills — came out of nowhere and moved very quickly to finish the deal. For now, though, the market for T.O. appears to be right where it has been.
