Mr. Irrelevant signs contract live on ‘NFL Total Access’

Tim Toone — known in most circles as Mr. Irrelevant — made a bit of football television history (we believe) on Friday by signing his NFL player contract live, on the air, on “NFL Total Access.”
Check out the video above to see how the signing went down, with host Rich Eisen overseeing the process.
Toone and his family were wrapping up their celebration of Irrelevant Week with a visit to NFL Network studios in Los Angeles, and he had his Lowsman Trophy and Lions No. 255 jersey in tow. I chatted with Toone, who was definitely still on a high after getting showered with gifts (including an iPad, I’m told) during the three-day festivities, for a minute about signing his deal in front of the cameras.
“I grew up watching Rich on TV, and I couldn’t help but think that the funny part about my contract is that I just came from the NFL Rookie Symposium, and they told me to make sure our contracts are good and to read them over,” Toone joked. “I don’t know what I just signed. I don’t know how much I’m getting paid. I don’t know what my signing bonus is. But it’s kind of irrelevant, right? As long as I’m signed, I’m signed.”
Toone assured me, though, that his agent knows what’s in the contract. That is relevant.
