49ers have confidence in Smith, should you?

The 49ers are backing their man, QB Alex Smith. FS Dashon Goldson told NFL enthusiasts Thursday — during his NFL.com chat — that Smith has been on top of his game, and the team believes in him.
The big question is, should you?
Obviously, not many of you will be counting on Smith as a starting quarterback. But he has a huge impact with a number of high-profile players. Players who own TE Vernon Davis, WR Michael Crabtree and even RB Frank Gore must have confidence in Smith.
But Smith should be fine. A soft schedule (based on 2009 statistics) and consistency at offensive coordinator should do him a lot of good. He had more offensive coordinators during the early part of his career than Rob Schneider had box office bombs. But Jimmy Raye will start his second year as the team’s offensive coordinator. The first time Smith has had continuity in his career.
That should pay off.
As you can tell by our recent expert’s rankings, I’m pretty high on Davis, Crabtree and Gore. Take 49ers with confidence and I would target Smith as a potential backup, especially in deeper leagues.
