Houston Texans TE Owen Daniels is paying a visit to NFL Network on Wednesday — catch his segment with Rich Eisen, Brian Baldinger, Jamie Dukes and Warren Sapp on “NFL Total Access” (7 p.m. EST) — and also checked in with NFL fans for a live chat.
Among other topics (as in why he’s the better fantasy option than Redskins TE Chris Cooley), Daniels said the Texans will “absolutely” make the playoffs for the first time this season. It’s not the first time we’ve heard Daniels suggest it, but he believes the key is the Texans’ performance in the AFC South.
“I think the biggest thing is that we need to be better in the division,” Daniels told fans. “We were 9-7 last year, but 1-5 in the division. The AFC South has four tough teams, so getting in the playoffs isn’t easy. You have to beat those teams.”
Daniels and the Texans will find out how they stack up against the division’s top team — the Colts — early. They open the season at home against the Colts, and then face them again on the road in Week 8 following their bye week. All of the remaining division games take place over the final eight weeks of the season, including the finale at home against the Jaguars.
