Vincent Jackson is a physical, big (6-foot-5) game-breaker of a receiver. Who would not want him?
Well the Chargers for one.
Jackson is not likely to come back to San Diego, so where are some of the best places that Jackson could go to from a fantasy perspective? The rest of the AFC West (for obvious reasons), the Cowboys (too many guys), Saints (ditto) and Dolphins (Brandon Marshall) are some of the teams that are eliminated from the discussion.
But here are my “dream teams” for Jackson. And remember, Jackson is not rumored to go to all of these places, but just a look at some scenarios that would be pretty cool.
Seahawks: NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora was the first to report the Seahawks’ interest. But is this a good fit? Fantasy value for receivers seems to go and die in Seattle. Deion Branch and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are two recent examples. How many receivers do the Seahawks want to ruin? Fantasy enthusiasts say no to Jackson going to Seattle.
Jaguars: This would not be the worst scenario, playing opposite Mike Sims-Walker. Fantasy enthusiast and new radio talk show host Maurice Jones-Drew should be lobbying for this to happen.
Browns: This would not be very good for fantasy, but this would be a good way for the Chargers to spite Jackson.
Bills: See above.
Bears: A receiver like Jackson in Mike Martz‘s offense? That seems like a good fit. Even Jay Cutler could not overthrow this guy. But the Chicago Tribune says the Bears do not have any interest in winning. Oops, no interest in Jackson.
Packers: This is a pretty exciting opportunity that warms my heart. The same way that Farrah Fawcett poster did back in the day? Not quite. But still pretty heart warming. This likely will not happen, but dare to dream, right?
St. Louis: I would be trying to make this happen if I was St. Louis, but what do they have to offer, stock in WalMart? This team, however, needs playmakers. But this would be fantasy Siberia for Jackson.
So of all of the places believed to be in the running for Jackson, the Redskins look like the best option. The Packers would put fantasy enthusiasts over the moon. Of course, the Chargers would be awesome, but well, that does not seem likely to happen. What do you have?
