How much is Revis worth?

So how much is Darrelle Revis worth?
That’s not a small topic. But, it is a good discussion starter. And being such, Solomon Wilcots and Jason La Canfora discussed it on “NFL Total Access” Thursday, following a report that the Jets are ready to make Revis the richest defensive back in NFL history with a contract offer worth over $100 million.
La Canfora suggested that until the Jets are prepared to offer more than $40 million guaranteed with an average salary over $15 million per year, the negotiations won’t even begin. Notice that those numbers are based off the contract of Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha, who signed a three-year, $45.3 million contract in 2009 that included $28.5 million guaranteed.
It seems appropriate to believe that Rex Ryan’s outspoken endorsement that Revis was the best defensive player in football (which probably made the Jets’ negotiators cringe) will be used at the negotiating table by Revis’ agents, who no doubt will say the two-time Pro Bowler should then be paid as such.
Wilcots took the contrarian side to said argument, believing that Asomugha’s contract can’t be used as a foundation for Revis’ contract because the Raiders overpaid.
