Hester, Knox appear set as starters for Bears

The Chicago Bears decided against making a big splash in free agency or the draft at wide receiver, instead believing that the players already in-house could play better. How the group stacks up under new OC Mike Martz is one of the biggest offseason storylines for the Bears.
While it figures to be awhile before the pads go on and we know the results, the Bears haven’t hidden their enthusiasm for the group.
Start with Jay Cutler, who pointed to Devin Aromashodu as having a great camp, according to Neil Hayes of the Chicago Sun-Times. Hayes also noted here that it was Rashied Davis who was most impressive at a recent OTA session.
Martz has raved about Devin Hester, who he called an “elite receiver,” per Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, and also hinted at a new and bigger role for Aromashodu, who he said has stepped up “significantly.”
What is slightly more concrete, at this early point, is that Hester and second-year pro Johnny Knox have been running with the first team, while Aromashodu and Earl Bennett (still making his way back from knee surgery) are running on the second team. Davis and Juaquin Iglesias are also expected to get an opportunity to contribute.
After all of the offseason talk, one can hardly wait to see how this one plays out.
