We heard from Vince Young on Monday when he apologized for his involvement in a scuffle that led to a misdemeanor assault citation.
NFL Network analyst Trent Green, who happens to know a thing or two about being a franchise quarterback, was in-house at our Los Angeles studios on Monday and said Young can’t afford these types of mistakes if he wants to be a true leader of the Titans.
“I think the thing that the Titans want to see, what the players in the locker room want to see … is some consistency out of Vince Young,” Green said. “Right now, he’s saying all the right things. He’s representing that he wants to be a different player, he wants to be the leader of this team, he wants to shoulder that responsibility. But he has to go out and prove it.
“He has that responsibility on him. He’s got to understand with that responsibility, how he conducts himself out in public. Everybody is looking at him. He’s under the microscope, because they want to see, how he is going to follow-up the success he had in those last 10 games last season? How is he going to follow that success up this season? … They want to see how he fulfills that.”
