Rex no Ryan, but compares himself to Strasburg

Jets coach Rex Ryan opened his press conference on Thursday comparing himself to one of the greats. Not Weeb Ewbank, but rather Nationals phenomenon Stephen Strasburg.

The crowd of reporters at the Jets facility burst into laughter when Ryan directed them to the video board, and it opened with a shot of Strasburg. Ryan, who threw out the first pitch for the Mets earlier this week, had a side-by-side breakdown between his form and that of Strasburg who made his Major League debut this week.

Ryan described his own movement on his fastball as “filthy,” and said that the biggest difference between the two was the catcher. Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum caught Ryan’s pitch.

The Jets’ official site has the video and it is worth checking out.
