Eagles QB Vick content with role as backup

QB Michael Vick moved with such fluidity in his prime, you could not help but be amazed by his ability to change direction. And apparently, he still has it.
Vick told reporters on Tuesday (via the Philadelphia Inquirer) that he is content being Kevin Kolb‘s backup and playing his role in the “Spread Eagle” formation — a reversal from his previous statements of wanting to be the starting quarterback. Hopefully reporters didn’t suffer the same twisted ankles that defenders endured while trying to corral Vick back in the day.
“This is my role and this is what I’m going to be doing pretty much the majority of the season,” Vick said. “Who knows, the role could expand a little bit, but if this is what it’s going to be, then I’m going to have fun doing it.”
But Vick did say that he is ready to run the Eagles offense if he is called upon.
“I know I can run the offense if anything were to happen to Kevin,” Vick said. “God forbid.”
