Gerhart will make next week’s minicamp

Vikings RB Toby Gerhart plans to participate in a portion of the Vikings’ minicamp next week, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
Gerhart has sat out most of the team’s voluntary organized team activities waiting for Stanford’s academic calendar to end. NFL rules prohibit rookies from participating in practices — outside of rookie camp — until their school year has finished.
Gerhart could see extra work in practice because incumbent Adrian Peterson will miss part of the minicamp because he will be attending a parade in his honor.
Gerhart answered some questions on the team’s official Web site and noted that he has been talking a lot with running backs coach Eric Bieniemy. Gerhart knows that he is behind a little bit by missing OTAs. But some believe that Gerhart could produce some numbers this season, especially if Peterson continues to have trouble holding on to the football.
