Laid-back Rodgers goes on a rant

Who is the best NFL quaterback? If you listen to Packers QB Aaron Rodgers, the answer is clear —Tom Brady. Normally, when a quarterback is asked such a question, you get a near canned answer. Not from Rodgers.

Rodgers pulled no punches when he joined Homer on ESPN Radio Milwaukee, touching on a number of topics. Californians often have the reputation of being laid back. But Rodgers really went on a rant when talking about former Monday Night Football analyst Tony Kornheiser (via Sports Radio Interviews).

“You know who was better than Tony Kornheiser?,” Rodgers said. “Dennis Miller was 10 times better. Dennis Miller was a great comedian, but one of the worst Monday Night Football guys ever. And he was 10 times better than Tony Kornheiser. His stuff was actually funny. Tony’s stuff wasn’t funny at all. He did no research. We’d sit in those production meetings and he would add absolutely nothing to the conversation. I’d be like, ‘What are we doing here? This is stupid.’”

Wow, Rodgers was really channeling his inner-Jeffrey Ross as he also called out analysts Ron Jaworski (whom he said did the worst segment in the history of TV) and Marcellus Wiley. But he did give high marks to Trent Dilfer. Quarterbacks do stick together.

Some other highlights from the interview:

In addition to Brady, Rodgers’ top five quarterbacks are Drew Brees, Philip Rivers, Tony Romo and Peyton Manning. But Rodgers made it clear that Brady was No. 1.

Rodgers said LeBron James should sign with the Clippers to have a true battle of Los Angeles with Kobe Bryant. Rodgers’ take was who better to join a team that has done nothing in the NBA and take them to the top? Somebody should remind Rodgers of these statements if he is a free agent and one of the NFL’s bottom feeders comes calling.

And that chinstrap beard on his bobblehead? He would never wear it.
