Barber slims down for Cowboys OTA

Cowboys RB Marion Barber was the most frustrating fantasy back last year — not named Matt Forte, of course. And now, many believe that Barber has likely lost his spot at the top of the Cowboys depth chart to Felix Jones.
But Barber is not going down without a fight.
Barber showed up to the Cowboys’ OTA 10 pounds lighter than last year, according to coach Skip Peete (via the Dallas Morning News).
“He’s leaner and looks quicker than he’s been,” Peete said. “It’s noticeable. I’m excited to see what he does when we get to camp.”
Of course, everybody looks good during the offseason. Well, maybe not JaMarcus Russell. But most active NFL players take conditioning serious.
But can you trust Barber? As much love as Barber has received over the past couple of years, he has never rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a season. Reached double digits in touchdowns only once. And of course, taking a Cowboys player in fantasy is like ordering super-sized McDonald’s fries, meaning it seems like a good idea at the time, but there are way too many of them. In this case, options.
In addition to Barber and Jones, there is Tashard Choice to go along with a litany of tight ends and receivers. Way too many options on the Cowboys. So draft Cowboys early can be frustrating.
But if Barber stays committed and can stay healthy, he has a chance to be a great value pick later in drafts.
