With the news of Randy Moss‘ departure from longtime agent Tim DiPiero becoming official over the weekend, the ripples began almost immediately throughout the NFL.
Top agents are vying to court the star receiver, and, according to league sources, Moss will have at least one face-to-face meeting with a prospective agent this week. Agents began calling media members and their current roster of players, trying to track down a cell-phone number for Moss (I, admittedly, did the same, but Moss is notorious for changing numbers with great regularity, current and former teammates say; alas, the numbers I came up with no longer were in service).
Moss told The Boston Herald that he’s seeking an agent to maximize his marketing possibilities and is looking for more commercials and endorsements. Moss has one year left on his deal with the Patriots, and this next contract likely will be the last lucrative playing contract of his NFL career.
An extension appears unlikely at this time.
