Texans will wait and see on contract for Daniels

NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora was on the Around the League segment of “NFL Total Access” on Wednesday, updating the rehabilitation progress of Texans TE Owen Daniels and free agent LB Keith Bulluck.

  • Daniels will likely be limited for the start of training camp due to his recovery from major knee surgery, a situation that could be significant in terms of contract talks. According to La Canfora, the Texans have told Daniels — who was having a career season in 2009 before the injury — that they will need to see a complete return before he’s rewarded with a contract.
  • La Canfora posted earlier Wednesday that Bulluck is about three weeks away from being fully recovered from surgery to repair his torn ACL, and that “upwards of 10 teams” have checked his status. La Canfora says the Lions, along with the Titans, are teams to keep an eye on. Current Lions coach Jim Schwartz was the LBs coach and then defensive coordinator for Bulluck’s first nine NFL seasons in Tennessee.
