Steve Smith no longer No. 1 in Carolina?

Panthers WR Steve Smith joined host Fran Charles and guest analyst Muhsin Muhammad — Smith’s former teammate — during Friday’s NFL Total Access to talk about the major changes happening in Carolina.

Does one of those changes involve the nine-year veteran Smith no longer being the No. 1 receiving option for young QB Matt Moore to throw to? Charles asked him about comments he made earlier this offseason regarding that topic.

“Realistically, I’ve heard a lot of stories about No. 1 guys who aren’t able to teach and aren’t able to let go of that position,” Smith said. “And I just don’t want to be one of those guys that’s holding on to it when it’s time to let go. …

“I’m not afraid to say, ‘Hey, I’m getting older.’ And older isn’t necessarily a bad thing anyway.”
