Cowboys fans bemoaned that Tony Romo could not win the big one. But in the last couple of months Romo did win a playoff game and he made a — dare I say — clutch putt to advance in a U.S. Open qualifying match.
Romo’s putt on the third playoff hole helped him advance to section qualifying which will be played June 7 at The Club at Carlton Woods at The Woodlands. Romo shot a 69 in regulation to push the overtime and then worked his magic. He told the Dallas Morning News that this was a good step for him both in golf and football.
“It’s nice to know that you can do things and get your blood pressure and emotions under control in this situation and still do good things,” Romo said. “And that carries over to football, and I try to use the way you think, the way you breathe, all those things in football and it’s just another tool to help you get better.”
Hopefully those skills will help him if he ever needs to hold the ball on a crucial field goal attempt in the playoffs.
