Brady sees value in veteran WRs Patten, Holt

We passed along some outstanding quotes from Patriots QB Tom Brady earlier on his thoughts about leadership, balancing life and football and the fact he doesn’t believe the team was “mentally tough” last season.
Brady did actually spend some time during his interview on WEEI talking football, too. Speaking specifically about his group of receivers, he sees a lot of value in the addition of veterans David Patten and Torry Holt, who he said will both play on the outside in the Patriots offense — don’t expect either in the slot position typically manned by Wes Welker.
“They both have very good speed, both are really precise route-runners,” Brady said. “Both guys are very smart players, they know how to set up their routes. I love having David back. He’s one of my favorite teammates with his work ethic. He’s produced a lot in some really big games for us.”
And speaking of Welker, Brady confirmed the two have been working out together as Welker rehabs his ACL injury, but didn’t provide much of an update on his progress. Brady also noted second-year pro Brandon Tate has had a “great offseason” so far.
