Vanden Bosch: Lions ‘closer than people think’

While NFL Network analysts Jamie Dukes and Tom Waddle offered their assessments of the Lions during a 2010 season outlook Monday (it really is never too early), one of the newest members of the team — DE Kyle Vanden Bosch — said during a recent interview he believes the Lions are better than most observers believe.
“In spite of our record last year, and in spite of our record the last few years, we’re a lot closer than people think,” Vanden Bosch said. “I think we can get this thing turned around quickly. I think we have the right pieces in place to be a competitive team and give ourselves an opportunity to win each week.”
Vanden Bosch touches on how Lions coach Jim Schwartz — his former defensive coordinator in Tennessee — sold him on the changes in Detroit. It will be interesting to see how the vision of Schwartz plays out on his new-look defensive line with Vanden Bosch, Corey Williams and Ndamukong Suh.
