Arena League serves big hits

An old football axiom says you have to keep your head on a swivel. In the Arena League, that apparently applies to the waitresses, too.
Iowa Barnstormers WR Todd Blythe makes a catch at the end of the first quarter of Friday night’s game at Orlando and then get up-close-and-personal with a waitress. Breaking her fall was former Tampa Bay Storm QB Jay Gruden. And yes, he is the brother of former Buccaneers coach Jon Gruden.
The waitress jumped up and appeared to be OK — but likely sore — after she took a shot that would have likely humbled many NFL receivers. Blythe also did the right thing by checking up on her. Maybe he should have bought the round, too.
Needless to say, don’t try this maneuver at your local restaurant, this only works at Arena League games.
You can catch exciting Arena League action every Friday night on NFL Network. Some other highlights from that game:
- Barnstormers CB Tanner Varner makes a diving interception and brings it back for a touchdown.
- Predators special teamer Rayshaun Kizer recovers a fumble for a touchdown after a spectacular tackle on a kickoff.
