Safeties, not quarterbacks, are hot property

It looks like QBs Jimmy Clausen and Colt McCoy‘s slide down the draft is going to continue for a while.
Cleveland, which was believed to be interested in taking a quarterback, drafted Oregon safety T.J. Ward with the sixth pick of the second round (38th overall). If the Browns want a quarterback, they didn’t want one at this point.
Another interesting point: Two safeties have been drafted within the first six picks of the second round. None of them have been named Taylor Mays. The Eagles, with the pick they got in a trade from Washington for quarterback Donovan McNabb (37th pick overall), addressed their need for a free safety by taking Nate Allen of South Florida.
