Giants’ Reese: ‘We’re not trading Osi’

When the Giants drafted DE Jason Pierre-Paul with the 15th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft Thursday night, it may have signaled to some that Osi Umenyiora’s tenure with the Giants will soon end. At least, that was likely the prevailing thought among many Giants fans.

Giants GM Jerry Reese wasted no time in putting an end to that presumption, per The Star-Ledger.

“We’re not trading Osi,” Reese said. “You don’t even have to ask that question. I know that’s the question on everybody’s mind. … We’re excited about having the defensive ends we have.”

Reese did admit in Mike Garafolo’s report that “a few” teams called to gauge the Giants’ interest in dealing Umenyiora, but they appear set — for now, we know anything can happen — to keep the two-time Pro Bowler on the roster.
