Browns fans at Radio City get the man they want

NEW YORK — It took awhile, but the winningest quarterback in college football history finally heard his name called in the NFL Draft.

With Browns fans chanting loudly here at Radio City Music Hall, and Longhorns coach Mack Brown striding up to the podium, it was time.

“With the 85th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns select Colt McCoy, quarterback, Texas,” a beaming Brown announced.

As soon as the pick was made, this entire venue turned into Municipal Stadium, circa 1987. Loud cheers of “Whoo! Whoo! Whoo!” came out just like were heard in the glory era of the Dawg Pound.

McCoy can finally breathe easy. And right on cue, the jumbotrons next to the stage showed McCoy celebrating at his draft party with a huge sense of relief on his face.
