NEW YORK — Oklahoma’s Trent Williams will be replacing long-time left tackle stalwart Chris Samuels in Washington. It was fitting then that one of the first people he met after hearing his name called by Commissioner Roger Goodell was Samuels.
The Redskins had sent Samuels to New York to represent the team at its table, and he was quick in welcoming Williams to the club.
For his part, Williams was thrilled with the opportunity to follow his Pro Bowl predecessor.
“It’s like we’ve been knowing each other our whole lives, and I just met him,” said Williams. “He kind of embraced me and told me he was there to help me with anything I need.”
“That meant a lot to me.”
