NEW YORK — The crowd at Radio City Music Hall got its first surprise pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. And when the video board showed LB Rolando McClain smiling on his phone with the Raiders still on the clock, the Silver and Black-clad fans in the house voiced their displeasure.
In the midst of their misery, I saw a few fans of other teams taunting them. That’s normally a penalty, BTW.
NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock believes Raiders fans will change their tune about McClain.
“That’s a good pick by the Oakland Raiders,” Mayock observed. ”He’s tough, he’s a protoype 3-4 linebacker. He’s a play-maker. That’s a pick that I think will satisfy Oakland Raiders fans because of his productivity.”
McClain joins a deep group of linebackers in Oakland, with Kirk Morrison, Ricky Brown, Thomas Howard, Quentin Groves and Kamerion Wimbley all in the mix.
Raiders fans, jump in the war room to share your thoughts. And a note from the inside, the song played for McClain’s pick was California (here we come) by Phantom Planet. Great choice.
