Clausen, Redskins are this draft’s wild cards

  • Certain players are locks to be selected during a particular range in the first round of Thursday night’s NFL draft (7:30 p.m. ET on NFL Network). And certain teams are clearly targeting players at particular positions.

But do YOU know where Jimmy Clausen is going to be taken? Do YOU know what’s going on inside the Redskins’ war room. Maybe you think you do, but Clausen and the ‘Skins remain the wild cards of this year’s draft.

“You hear talk about immaturity. You hear talk about personality issues,” NFL Network’s Tom Waddle said. “Does a team step up and pull the trigger, or are they scared off? Do they address other needs and then think that Jimmy Clausen would be available to them at the top of the second round? I wouldn’t be shocked to see Jimmy Clausen selected with one of the top 10 picks or be drafted at the top of the second round.”

NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi’s thoughts on Washington?

“I think this is really, tomorrow night, where the draft starts,” Lombardi said. “I think (picks) one, two and three, for all the rhetoric that is going around, has been decided. The fourth pick is where this draft is going to start. And Washington, who’s not telling the truth about anything, is now going to have to make a decision.”
