NEW YORK — The one draft prospect you’d expect to know, or at least have a pretty solid guess, as to where he’s headed Thursday night is Sam Bradford, widely regarded as the No. 1 overall pick by the Rams.
Except Bradford denies that he has any insight on the matter.
Chatting with a group of reporters Wednesday, Bradford denied the Rams have given him any indication that his name will be called first by commissioner Roger Goodell. But it sounds like Bradford would like to know.
“They’ve held their cards pretty close to their chest,” he said. “I haven’t heard a lot. Like I said earlier, I’d like to find out, hopefully before tomorrow night, so I’m not in there just guessing.”
Since ’tis the season for smoke screens, I couldn’t help but ask Bradford if he was laying down one of his own.
“Believe me, if I knew where I was going, I would tell you guys,” he said.
Maybe, maybe not. But it won’t take long once the draft commences for everyone — a group that could include Bradford — to find out if he’s St. Louis-bound.
