Lions fans have made themselves heard: They want Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh. And the Lions might have tipped their hand, too.
A group of 1,500 Lions fans serenaded coach Jim Schwartz with chants of “Suh, Suh” during a season-ticket holder pre-draft event Monday at Ford Field, according to the Detroit News.
Schwartz told the fans that they “will not be disappointed with the pick.” Schwartz said the Lions were going over all of the mock-draft scenarios, but most experts believe the Rams will take Oklahoma QB Sam Bradford with the first overall selection.
Suh has some other unexpected support in Detroit, coming from the wife of Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham.
“I’m going to listen to my wife,” Cunningham said. “When we got back from the Senior Bowl, she was already on the Internet looking at the other guys. After the combine, she made a comment to me. She said, ‘I think (Gerald) McCoy is really good, but Suh is really pretty. I said ‘Well, can he play?’ and she said I needed to watch these things and (I’ll) understand like (she) does.”
