Raiders add Boller to quarterback mix

We hadn’t heard much about QB Kyle Boller, until Thursday. That was when the Raiders announced, via Twitter, that they had signed the unrestricted free agent.
Presumably, Boller would compete with JaMarcus Russell and Bruce Gradkowski for the starting job. That’s if the Raiders don’t draft a quarterback with the No. 8 overall pick (see Clausen, Jimmy) or make a trade for another veteran (see Campbell, Jason). They’ve been linked to both scenarios leading up to the draft.
Boller, a former first-round pick by the Ravens in 2003, played for the Rams last season after sitting out the 2008 season with an injury.
The link between the Raiders and Boller is new offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, who was the Ravens’ quarterbacks coach for two seasons (2008-09).
