Rams GM Billy Devaney told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he was impressed with Texas QB Colt McCoy during a private workout on Thursday.
The Rams did not attend McCoy’s previous workout and gave McCoy plays and routes to run, rather than letting him do his own routine.
“He was extremely impressive,” Devaney told the Post-Dispatch. “He made all the throws and his arm strength was good enough.
“[McCoy showed] all the stuff that you look for in a great quarterback.”
St. Louis holds the first overall selection in the NFL Draft. While the team will likely not use that selection on McCoy, the team could use that top pick on a lineman — Nebraska DT Ndamukong Suh or Oklahoma DT Gerald McCoy — and then select the Texas QB in the second round.
