Austin brings the noise at UCLA’s pro day

There are many ways for a prospect to gain attention during a pro day workout — put up big numbers, forget your cleats, etc. Terrence Austin of UCLA chose a different route. He had a large contingent of friends and family in attendance, all wearing his jersey and making quite a bit of noise.
And, just for good measure, he had his agent hand out DVDs filled with highlights of the receiver’s big plays in college.
It apparently helped Austin (5-9, 163), as he looked really good catching the ball during positional drills.
A total of 21 teams were on hand to watch 13 Bruins go through the paces on March 31. Green Bay GM Ted Thompson and Carolina Panthers coach John Fox were the biggest names in attendance.
A lot of teams had their sights set on DT Brian Price (6-1, 301), who stood on many of his NFL Scouting Combine numbers. Price will visit six teams — Tampa, New Orleans, New England, Atlanta, Philadelphia and San Diego, before the draft.
Here are some other notable performances:
LB, Kyle Bosworth (6 7/8, 236) ran the 40 in 4.65 average, had a 31 1/2-inch vertical jump, 9-2 broad jump, stood on his combine numbers in the short shuttle, three-cone drill and bench press.
CB, Alterraun Verner (5-10, 184) stood on most of his numbers from the combine, had a 32 1/2-vertical jump and a 9-6 broad broad jump.
