La Canfora: ‘Nothing imminent’ on McNabb trade

It might not be the best idea to hold our collective breaths on a Donovan McNabb trade.
NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora told NFL Total Access Tuesday there is “nothing imminent” on a McNabb trade and no timetable exists to get a deal done. He also believes McNabb’s roster bonus, due May 5, won’t play a factor in the decision making.
“If anyone is waiting for Donovan McNabb to get cut because the Eagles won’t pick [the bonus] up, they’re crazy,” La Canfora told host Fran Charles. “So it’s not a factor in that regard. They will execute that roster bonus to have him still there.”
The financial burden of acquiring McNabb — the $6.5 million roster bonus and his $5 million salary – may be overstated, says La Canfora. He expects any deal done after May 5 would include some type of compensation back to the Eagles to offset the $11.5 million cost.
