Louisville’s Long gets special attention from Patriots

Some great numbers were put up at Louisville’s pro day, but it was the player who didn’t do the workout drills that is especially worth monitoring.
WR Scott Long had such a phenomenal NFL Scouting Combine that it was unnecessary for him to do the workouts again. He was a top performer for his posiiton in every category at the combine (the 40-yard dash, the bench press, the vertical jump, the broad jump, the three-cone drill, the short shuttle and the long shuttle).
With that outstanding peformance in the books, Long was free to focus on position drills at the Cardinals’ pro day.
He was worked out by Patriots wide receivers coach Chad O’Shea and is a good prospect.
The two other solid prospects among the 16 (14 from Louiville, two from area schools) that worked out indoors on FieldTurf for 12 team representatives are as follows:
FB Joe Tronzo (5-foot-10 7/8, 242 pounds) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.70 and 4.64 seconds, had a 32-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.21-second short shuttle, a 6.97-second three-cone drill and 32 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds. He also did position workouts.
WR Trent Guy (5-8 1/4, 171) ran 4.53 and 4.58 in the 40, had a 35-inch vertical, a 10-3 broad, a 4.07 short shuttle, a 6.90 three-cone drill and did 12 bench press reps. He also did a position workout.
