Childress: No interest in Westbrook — right now

In what feels like one of the only non-Donovan McNabb nuggets to come out of Philadelphia this week, the Daily News gauged the interest of Vikings coach Brad Childress in free agent RB Brian Westbrook — a player we’ve wondered if we’ll see on an NFL field again.

Childress denied interest … right now … but left that door … open.

“He is a good player, and I have a lot of admiration and respect for him,” Childress said at the NFL Annual Meeting. “I do not know if we are far enough down the free-agent trail yet, but he is certainly a guy that is on our board and on our list, as are others. There is no interest as of right this second, but do I respect his abilities, absolutely. I have a lot of admiration for him.”
