Nichols, Overbay on display at E. Washington Pro Day

Rain didn’t stop Eastern Washington from holding its pro day March 12, though the event was moved to Gonzaga Prep High School where 15 players — 10 from Eastern Washington and five from Central Washington — worked out outdoors on FieldTurf.
Among the highlights were:
Eastern Washington QB Matt Nichols (6-foot-1 7/8, 219 pounds) worked out for about 30 minutes, throwing the ball to teammate TE Nathan Overbay (6-4 3/4, 259).
Nichols ran a 4.88-second 40-yard dash with the wind and 4.92 against the wind. He had a 28.5-inch vertical jump, 8-foot, 9-inch broad jump, 4.18 short shuttle and a 7.11 three-cone drill.
Overbay ran a 4.74 with the wind and a 4.83 against the wind. He had a 30.5-inch vertical jump, 8-11broad jump, 4.39 short shuttle, 7.18 three-cone drill and 19 bench press repetitions at 225 pounds.
The highlight among Central Washington’s players was WR Johnny Spevak (6-2 3/8, 210), who looked good catching the ball in positional drills and ran a 4.60 40-yard dash with the wind and a 4.76 against the wind. Spevak posted a 29.5-inch vertical jump, 9-2 broad jump, 4.39 short shuttle, 6.97 three-cone drill and 13 bench press reps.
