Gonzalez sets high bar for Falcons

Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez paid the NFL Network studios in Los Angeles a visit Thursday, and when the topic turned to his outlook for next season, he didn’t play the cautious card.

Falcons fans, you’ll like how this sounds.

“I’m excited,” Gonzalez told Rich Eisen. “I know I’m always that way anyway, but I really do feel that this could potentially be the best team that I’ve ever played on. I think we have every position is pretty much covered. We just have to go out there and work at it now. It’s not about wanting to be good. You have to go out there and be willing to be good. You have to pay the price. I think this team is going to do that this year.

“I know it’s saying a lot. And I know I’m going to hear about it.”

In 13 NFL seasons in K.C. and Atlanta, Gonzalez has played on two 13-3 teams (1997 and 2003).
