Dolphins elect to bring back Ferguson

The Dolphins announced Tuesday that they have re-signed veteran NT Jason Ferguson, but they didn’t release any terms of the contract.

The Dolphins have elected to bring back Ferguson despite the fact that he’ll sit out the first eight games of the 2010 season for violating NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Ferguson, 35, was an unrestricted free agent. He started all nine of his games last season — anchoring the middle of the Dolphins’ 3-4 defense — before suffering a season-ending quadriceps injury in November. Third-year pro Paul Soliai finished the season as the starter in the middle.
