Wyoming coach makes sure scouts go home happy

Second-year Wyoming coach Dave Christensen did an outstanding job of organizing the workout and made the scouts extremely happy by serving them both breakfast and lunch.

Fourteen teams showed up to watch six players — five from Wyoming’s 2009 team and one from a previous year — work out indoors on FieldTurf. Here’s a look at how the top Cowboys prospects performed:

DE Mitch Unrein (6-foot-3 5/8, 276 pounds) ran 4.89 and 4.90 seconds in the 40-yard dash and had a 31-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot, 9-inch broad jump, a 4.60-second short shuttle, a 7.41-second three-cone drill and 26 bench-press repetitions. He looked good in position drills.

OLB Weston Johnson (6-3 1/8, 239 pounds) ran 4.75 and 4.77 seconds in the 40 and had a 31-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot, 4-inch broad jump and 27 bench-press reps. He didn’t do the shuttles or positional drills after suffering a strained groin.

DL John Fletcher (6-5 1/8, 270 pounds) ran 4.82 in the 40, had a 33-inch vertical jump and 21 bench-press reps. He pulled his left hamstring and did nothing else.
