Raiders release longtime RB Fargas

The Raiders announced Saturday that they have cut veteran RB Justin Fargas because of a failed physical.

Fargas spent seven seasons with the Raiders after being selected by them in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft.

Fargas appeared in 14 contests last season, starting seven, before missing the final two games with a knee injury. He rushed for 491 yards and three touchdowns.

Fargas’ banner season came in 2007, when he rushed for a career-high 1,009 yards and four touchdowns.
