Representatives for 12 NFL teams were in attendance to watch 14 Florida Atlantic players work out outdoors on FieldTurf. Owls QB Rusty Smith was one of the three more prominent prospects worth watching. Here’s a look at their performances:
Smith (6-foot-5, 224 pounds) ran 4.83 and 5.08 seconds in the 40-yard dash and had a 23-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot, 4-inch broad jump, a 4.51-second short shuttle and a 7.04-second three-cone drill, but he didn’t lift. He did showcase his arm, throwing to a total of six tight ends/wide receivers.
OT Carl Spitale (6-6 7/8, 327 pounds) ran 5.22 and 5.28 in the 40 and had a 27-inch vertical jump, a 9-foot broad jump and 22 bench-press repetitions. He also ran positional drills. He’s doing the shuttles at Miami’s pro day March 26.
TE/WR Jason Harmon (6-2 1/4, 214 pounds) ran a 4.62 and 4.68 in the 40 and had a 34 1/2-inch vertical jump, a 10-foot broad jump, a 4.44-second short shuttle, a 7.09-second three-cone drill and 12 bench-press reps. He played tight end in college but likely will have to move to receiver in the pros.
