Reports: Bears close with Peppers; Taylor has deal

The Bears have agreed to terms with free-agent RB Chester Taylor, and the signing of DE Julius Peppers is imminent, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Neil Hayes reported Friday that Peppers is expected to sign a six-year contract worth approximately $12 million per season, with the first three years guaranteed. The Eagles and Patriots also have offers out to Peppers, NFL Network insider Jason La Canfora reported.

Sean Jensen also reported that the Bears agreed to a four-year contract worth $12.5 million with Taylor. The deal includes $7 million guaranteed. A league source confirmed those figures to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora.

According to the Sun-Times, the Bears are expected to hold a news conference announcing the signings of Peppers, Taylor and TE Brandon Manumaleuna at Halas Hall later Friday.
