Peppers scheduled to visit Bears on Friday

Pro Bowl DE Julius Peppers and the Bears have scheduled a visit for Friday, the first day of free agency, NFL Network’s Michael Lombardi reports.

A report surfaced earlier this week that Peppers’ representatives met with the Bears last weekend at the NFL Scouting Combine. Since the Bears don’t have a first- or second-round pick in this year’s draft, it was believed the normally frugal franchise would be a major player in the Peppers sweepstakes and free agency in general.

The Bears also have scheduled a visit with free-agent RB Chester Taylor, according to Lombardi.
