The New England Patriots have extended contract tenders to G Logan Mankins and K Stephen Gostkowski, according to NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi.
The Patriots placed a first- and third-round tender on Mankins, the highest possible tender amount. Mankins, a mainstay on the Patriots line since he was a first-round pick in 2005, has started all 80 games during his five seasons.
The Patriots offered a second-round tender on Gostkowski, who was a fourth-round pick in 2006. Gostkowski, who took over regular kicking duties as a rookie, connected on 26 of 31 field goal attempts last season and all 47 extra points.
Lombardi also reports the Patriots are expected to cut TE Chris Baker on Thursday. Baker started seven games last season, finishing with 14 receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
