Panthers cut ties with DT Lewis

The Panthers cut DT Damione Lewis on Thursday, according to a league source.

Lewis has been a mainstay in Carolina the last two seasons, starting all 31 games in which he has played. The nine-year veteran originally signed with the Panthers as an unrestricted free agent in 2006 after spending his first five seasons with the Rams.
