INDIANAPOLIS — A stroll around the different workout stations at the NFL Scouting Combine provides a unique perspective of how these prospects prepare for competition.
Ndamukong Suh was especially interesting to watch. The Nebraska defensive tackle, whom Bucky Brooks projects to be the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, displayed pure intensity.
While preparing to run his 40-yard dash Monday, Suh carved out some space for himself on the far side of the field to visualize his run and practice his form. His steely focus was evident on his face as he appeared to be in the zone.
Suh, who already had posted an unofficial 35 1/2-inch vertical jump — an incredible feat for a defensive tackle — wanted to knock out an equally impressive 40 time.
After recording a solid 4.98 seconds in his first run, Suh was hoping to tally an even better mark in his second. Without even hearing his unofficial time, it was clear that didn’t happen. As soon as he crossed the finish line, Suh shook his head in disgust, muttered at himself and walked back to the next drill in disappointment. His unofficial second time: 5.07 seconds.
