Time to impress: First workouts begin

INDIANAPOLIS — It’s beginning to look a lot like the NFL Scouting Combine. Welcome, everyone, to Day 4.

With the first group of prospects gathering on the field Saturday for the first position workouts of the combine — as well as a warm and highly energetic “Good morning” from NFL Network’s Scott Hanson — it really does feel like the combine. Today, we’ll see on-field workouts (verticals, cone drills, 40-yard dash, broad jump, etc.) from the offensive linemen and tight ends, as well as some specialists.

Some prospects to watch include Charles Brown, Bryan Buluga, Bruce Campbell, Anthony Davis, Vlad Ducasse and Mike Iupati in Group 1. In the second group of linemen, there’s Russell Okung, Matt Tennant, J.D. Walton and Trent Williams. Group 3 is made up of all tight ends, including Ed Dickson, Jimmy Graham, Jermaine Gresham and Rob Gronkowski.

The scouts and talent evaluators have their bagels and donuts in hand as they make their way to the lower-level seats in Lucas Oil Stadium. That’s the sign that workouts are about to begin.
