Running back position unsettled in Chicago

INDIANAPOLIS — The Bears have long been known as a running team. While the addition of QB Jay Cutler last season created more of an emphasis on the passing attack, the collapse of the ground game was surprising and disappointing.
“This last year, we weren’t as pleased as we’d like to be with our running back situation,” Bears coach Lovie Smith said Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Well, two big-name running backs — LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook — recently hit the market, and they could help ease the load on two-year starter Matt Forte. So, would the Bears be interested in either player?
“We’ll look at everyone that’s available,” Smith said.
